Kiverton Park Folk Club is 30 Years old, this year.  To celebrate they are having a special day of concerts, singarounds and events at the Clubs home in the Cricket Club, Kiverton Park.   It all kicks off at 12 noon on the 13th March.

Friday Saturday and Sunday 19th -21st March marks the first Barnsley Acoustic Roots festival with Eliza Carthy, Jez Lowe Martin Simpson the Demon Barbers Dave Burland and Lau.

On the Saturday afternoon / evening we are running an open mic session to provide an opportunity for local artists to play. Whilst it is hoped that all who turn up who want to play and/or sing will be able to do so I would like to book slots for people who fancy performing. A slot can be up to half an hour depending on demand etc.

The Saturday concerts and the open mic session will take place at Kingstone school Barnsley - full bar and food facilities including real ale are available throughout the day.

The session will run in parallel with the two concerts and will start at 2.0pm. It is expected that the session will be busiest between 4.30 and 7.30pm  i.e. in between the two concerts.

Details of the whole festival can be found at www.myspace.com/barnsleyacoustic.

If you would like to book a slot please reply to this message. If you know anyone else who might be interested please feel free to forward this message to them.

Keep on truckin

Some exciting news – on 1st May there will be a music festival in Barnsley organised by Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR). As well as the main festival there will be gigs in the town centre pubs. Barnsley Folk Against Fascism, led by Kate Burland, have been asked to run a small stage outside in the town centre – this is where you come in – we desperately need a pa and someone to run it, acts to perform and helpers to make the afternoon run smoothly, there is no money to pay anyone (we might be able to get some for pa hire), although there is the chance to get into the main festival for free.  CONTACT : kburland@fsmail.net
