The Rawmarsh Mashers are simply two old “buggers” having fun.
The union of Dickie and Myke is the result of their respective partners becoming so tired of their bodies that they were instructed to go out and get a proper hobby.

And so the guitars were dusted off, the strings tuned to a pitch just good enough for folk, the song books blown clean of cob webs, and The Mashers were launched onto an unsuspecting South Yorkshire Folk scene, where they regularly can be found terrorising audiences.
Their fame having been cemented by having a track, (Hairy Mary), played on Rother FM, the Mashers have never looked back.
Eighteen months have passed since that fateful day, and the Mashers are proud that they can still walk the streets of Rawmarsh completely unrecognised, yet be hailed by the local paper as “those veterans of the Folk scene”. Indeed, they have been acclaimed as being “World Famous in Rotherham.”
Parents often point at the Mashers, warning their children that “if you do not lead a clean and healthy life, you could end up like them.”

The Mashers mix, (for they love to be up to the minute with terminology) is extensive, be it the comedy songs or thrashing out much loved Folk classics.
The Mashers are always popular with audiences, mainly because they recommend that everyone has at least five pints of bitter and a bottle of whiskey before settling into a Masher set. Blow the expense. This also tends to make the Mashers very popular with Land Lords.
You can read all the kind words that have been said about The Mashers here.
The Rawmarsh Mashers have Gigged throughout the land of Yorkshire, and even on one or two occasions have taken their lives into their hands to visit outposts of humanity in County Durham, and Norfolk. Pubs, Folk Clubs have been their main spots, but a liberal number of Festival appearances in 2008 has triggered several more invitations for 2009.

Booking The Mashers is easy. Any fees payable are more than reasonable, and all Gig offers, be they from the local brothel or The Royal Albert Hall are given the same serious consideration, normally about two seconds, before being accepted.
There are many ways to keep up with The Mashers. 2008 was the year that The Mashers were dragged into the recording studio, in the case of Myke, screaming and crying.

We were lucky to get Brian Bedford at the Park Head Studio in Birdsedge to patiently work through a day and a half of our music, to produce some recordings that truly reflect the sound of the Mashers.
The simple sound of two guitars and voices has been captured to perfection by Brian and we consider ourselves exceptionally lucky to secure his skills for this our first venture into the magical World of recording.
Out of it all came nineteen tracks, which when parcelled together make up “Deliberate Mistake”.
We have also been gratified by the Reviews we received for our efforts. We are always conscious of the fact that some people in the World of Folk simply do not get what we are about yet the Reviews demonstrate that our humble recordings actually do represent our general ethos.
